SportTechMatch 2017              

The SportTechMatch was organized for the third time in the wake of the start of the Tour de France (‘Grand Départ’) in Düsseldorf. This international matchmaking event had the intention to establish international partnerships in sport technology especially between the Netherlands, Flanders and North Rhine-Westphalia. 

The event was organised in close cooperation between Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), ZENIT GmbH, Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Flanders Investment & Trade. The main event took part on 30 June in the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf. It comprised a conference in the morning and B2B meetings in the afternoon. A company mission was organised on 29 June as preliminary programme.

 

International conference and matchmaking on 30 June

100 participants attended the main event. The conference started with four key note speeches reflecting innovations in sport from scientific and business perspectives. In the next session eleven companies presented their innovative products, business models and projects. All speakers represented Dutch, Belgian and North Rhine-Westphalian companies and research organisations.

The conference was followed by a business meeting event. Companies, researchers and technologists were offered a chance to meet potential foreign partners active in the field of cycling and other sports technologies. In pre-arranged face-to-face meetings they had a chance to establish profitable new cooperation opportunities in business, technology transfer and research & development.

During the day, ten start-ups had the opportunity to present their products in the exhibition.

In the last programme part the SportTech Innovation Prize was awarded. Three organising partners from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands nominated twelve innovative start-ups that participated in the competition. The Consul-General of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, Ton Lansink, awarded the prize to Niels De Greef from REIN4CED.

Company Mission

The day before the matchmaking event a company mission was offered. The purpose of this mission was to show highlights of sports related technologies in North Rhine-Westphalia. Participants visited medicoreha Welsink Rehabilitation GmbH in Neuss, the German Sport University Cologne (pictures below) and Covestro in Leverkusen.
