Social Innovation 2015: Pathways to Social Change

Research, policies and practices in European and global perspectives - Brokerage event

"In the eighties and nineties, the innovation agenda was exclusively focused on enterprises. There was a time in which economic and social issues were seen as separate. Economy was producing wealth, society was spending. In the 21st century economy, this is not true anymore. Sectors like health, social services and education have a tendency to grow, in GDP percentage as well as in creating employment, whereas other industries are decreasing. In the long term, an innovation in social services or education will be as important as an innovation in the pharmaceutical or aerospatial industry."
Diogo Vasconcelos (1968 - 2011); Senior Director and Distinguished Fellow with Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group; Chairman of SIX – Social Innovation eXchange, „Guide to Social Innovation“

“Social Innovation 2015: Pathways to Social Change. Research, policies and practices in European and global perspectives” (November 18-19, 2015) is the major international event devoted social innovation in the year 2015.  The conference is designed by experts representing several social innovation projects that reach out to world-wide experiences and concepts of social innovation. It will connect researchers with policy makers and practitioners of social innovation (more information about the conference).

An international brokerage event,  which will take place during the second day of the conference (November 19, 2015), will highlight research topics related to social innovation covered within the Horizon 2020 Programme calls. In particular it will focus on topics published in the new Work programmes for 2016-2017 within the Societal Challenge 5 and Societal Challenge 6. The information part will focus on the policy context, funding opportunities and the open calls for proposals. It will offer valuable insights for your proposal preparation.

Moreover, participants of the brokerage event will have a possibility to participate in a matchmaking event according to the topics of the Horizon 2020 open calls. It will give you the opportunity to join pre-arranged meetings with other participants in order to identify possible collaborators and to facilitate the setup of Horizon 2020 project consortia.
