Welcome to the website of “Achieving Impact: Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH) in Horizon 2020” - the two-day event which will consist of a conference on 26th February as well as an information day and a brokerage event on 27th February.

This transnational conference will mark the launch of the new EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation “Horizon 2020” and the opportunities therein for the SSH research community. It will take place in Athens at the National Hellenic Research Foundation on the occasion of the Greek EU Presidency. This large scale event is organized by NET4SOCIETY, the network of National Contact Points (NCPs) for research in the field of Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH) in the 7th European Framework Programme (FP7).

The event will be of particular interest and relevance to members of the SSH research community who are looking for networking and funding opportunities within Horizon 2020. It will be mainly targeted at the experienced and early-stage researchers preparing for the first and second calls of Horizon 2020 relevant to the social sciences and humanities but also stakeholders and European Commission representatives in the SSH and societal challenges.

Through this web page, you can register for the scientific conference, which will be held on 26th February, as well as for the information day and the brokerage event that will address the first two Horizon 2020 calls related to Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities themes, taking place on 27th February.

Conference on 26th February

The conference will address the important contribution that SSH research has to make towards a resilient society, the broad framework of the Europe 2020 strategy, and how Horizon 2020 supports Innovation. There will also be feedback from the “Horizons for Social Sciences and Humanities” conference, which focused on SSH opportunities in Horizon 2020 and took place in Vinius in September 2013 under the Lithuanian Presidency.

You will then be able to choose one of three parallel sessions in which to participate and contribute:

  • SSH contributions to a competitive Europe - Creativity and Culture
  • Making sense of Social Innovation!
During the parallel sessions, funding opportunities offered by Horizon 2020 for the SSH Research & Innovation community in the above areas will be examined.

Information Day and Brokerage Event on 27th February

The event will also include an information day and a brokerage event which will promote and encourage engagement with Horizon 2020 and will enhance networking and collaboration among researchers in Europe and beyond.

In addition, you will be able to choose one of three parallel sessions based on Societal Challenge 6 Work Programme in which to participate and contribute.
