Call for new proposals

The event focused on opportunities that the Eurostars programme can offer Dutch businesses and knowledge institutes. During the official opening of the event, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the international Eureka network, and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency called upon SMEs to take advantage of these opportunities. The General Managing Director of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, Harmen Harmsma, called upon entrepreneurs to put forward proposals for new innovative projects. His aim is to exceed 200 Eurostars projects by the end of 2015. The next call closes on 17 September 2015.

Michel Vanavermaete, Programme Implementation Manager at Eureka, also emphasised the importance of investing in Research & Development. He pointed out three important aspects in this regard: effective collaboration, innovation, and market positioning strategy.

Odilia Knap, MT member of the Directorate for Knowledge and Innovation (DG for Entrepreneurship & Innovation) at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, sees innovation primarily as a means of creating powerful solutions and economic growth. She therefore recommends that SMEs incorporate the advice of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency in their preparations. She believes the Eurostars label is a mark of excellence.

A slice of cake

In the presence of Harmen Harmsma, Odilia Knap, and Michel Vanavermaete, recognition was given to entrepreneurs of Eurostars projects approved in 2014. Together with Harmen, Odilia, and Michel, these entrepreneurs were asked to cut a cake to symbolise the share they had received from this European scheme. The entrepreneurs were also awarded an official certificate.
