Prior to Orange Healthcare, Benjamin led the creation of Orange Assistance, an Orange subsidiary providing home computer assistance services to Orange customers. Benjamin has held various director-level positions within Orange. Before joining the Orange group, Benjamin worked in the area of medical imaging at INSERM (Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale), a publicly funded medical research entity in France.

He began his career as a system engineer at Eutelsat, a satellite telecommunications operator. 

Benjamin is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Telecommunications de Bretagne and holds a MS in signal processing.

With a PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona, he also has a degree in Hospital Management from the EADA Business School in Barcelona.

Trained at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona in orthopaedic surgery and traumatology, he practiced for ten years (1980-1990) in different hospitals of the Catalan public network.

From 1995 to 2007 he was director-general of Unió Catalana d’Entitats Sanitàries i Socials.

From 2007 to 2010 he was president of Unió Catalana d’Entitats Sanitàries i Socials.

He has extensive teaching experience as a professor of pre- and postgraduate degree programmes in Health Economics and Healthcare Management at different academic and university centres and is also the author of numerous articles and published works in specialist journals.

Dr Ruiz was president of the health industry consultancy Know-How Advisers from 2008 to 2010 and has consulted extensively on projects for the implementation of improvements in the health industry at international level, some of which were promoted by the WHO and the Inter-American Development Bank.

He is currently Minister for Health of the Government of Catalonia.

Brian is Chair of the ECHAlliance, a membership (not-for-profit) organisation focused on 'Delivering leadership for the development of Connected and MHealth markets and practice across Europe and beyond'. 
Brian developed his career as a consultant, manager and/or investor in both private and public companies. He has worked in the UK, the US and lived in Hong Kong for eleven years. He has gained vast experience as a company director in a variety of industries and professions, and has raised significant sums for companies through both private equity structures and stock exchange listings.  Through his long established consultancy company, Corporate Direction Ltd, he is currently providing strategic advice to Governments, International organisations and companies on the challenges facing healthcare in general and specifically on the Connected Health opportunity. 
Brian has founded a number of companies in the healthcare services area in the UK, Ireland and Hong Kong. During his time in Hong Kong he founded what has become the largest private healthcare group there.

Christoph Westerteicher is the International Director for Philips Hospital to Home business, responsible for developing and managing Remote Patient Management services in Europe, Asia Pacific and other geographies besides the US.

He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of medical electronics working for Hewlett-Packard, Agilent and Philips. Specific functions have included managing the development of patient monitoring and anesthesia solutions, as well as market development of Remote Patient Management concepts. For the past 15 years Mr. Westerteicher has focused on developing and implementing novel Care Coordination and TeleHealth solutions and services to help manage patients with Long Term Conditions in Out-of-Hospital settings. This has included leading and participating in landmark studies, such as TEN-HMS, CARME, and the Whole System Demonstrator project in England. He is member of the COCIR Organisation in Brussels, and has chaired the Telemedicine Focus Group since 2012. In 1980 Christoph Westerteicher graduated from the University of Stuttgart (Germany) with a Dipl. Ing. degree in Electronic Engineering.

Diogo studied Business in the University of London, and worked for Vodafone and the portuguese airline TAP Portugal. Always looking for problems to solve, and making use of one of his hobbies - coding - he decided to create a solution for poor medication adherence and medication errors, following a stressful episode in his close family. With this idea, he won a "hackathon" competition in Lisbon, and decided to use the cash prize to further develop the product. In April 2014 he gathered a team and incorporated "PharmAssistant", and they were selected for the Bayer's Grants4Apps initiative a few months after."

Florence Gaudry-Perkins, International Director for Global Government Sector

Florence Gaudry-Perkins is currently International Director for Global Government Sector at the headquarters of Alcatel-Lucent. Her current position entails relations with governments, multilateral and bilateral funds, as well as international organizations, an ideal platform to address the economic and social enabling effects of mobile technology and broadband in the developing world.

Her past work in higher education and familiarity with global health has influenced her in being a strong advocate of mHealth and mLearning for health in particular. She believes that global corporations now hold a responsibility in bringing their core technologies, products, services and competencies to form alliances with NGOs, Social Entrepreneurs, Foundations, Governments and international organizations to help develop sustainable business models which can then be easier to scale and replicate across regions and market.

She has helped developed a multi-stakeholder mHealth program to address diabetes in Africa, which has started in Senegal, and is now working to cross-fertilize the project in other countries.

Giuseppe Busia, General Secretary

Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali)

Giuseppe Busia has worked at the Italian DPA from inception and took office as Secretary General to the DPA in July 2012.

He served as Secretary General to the Italian independent oversight Authority for public procurement contracts (2008-2012) and was appointed as Director of the Permanent Board for the Relations between State and Regions (2006-2008).

He is attorney-at-law and took a PhD in State theory and comparative political institutions at Rome’s “La Sapienza” University along with a PhD in Law and Economics at Foggia University. He completed his studies also in Strasbourg, New York, Tunis and Buenos Aires.

He held and still holds teaching courses in several Italian universities and has authored many scientific papers.

Mault conducted academic medical research under numerous grant awards from the National Institutes of Health, American Cancer Society, and others.

Joan Cornet was born in Manresa in 1950.Technical Engineer, and graduate in Psychology. After working as a Clinical Psychologist in a General Hospital in 1979, he was elected mayor of Manresa. In 1988 he began to work as civil servant in the European Commission in Brussels, where among other projects he lead EURES employment network. Later he was appointed Secretary General of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament in 1994. In June of 2004 he was named General Secretary of the Department of Health of the Government of Catalonia. In September 2005 the Government entrusted him to start up the “Bioregion of Catalonia” (Biotechnology) and since January 2007 to May 2013 has been CEO of TicSalut Foundation (ICT Health). Reminding board member of TicSalut Foundation related to international affairs and mHealth Strategies, nowadays he is Director of “mHealth Competence Center” at Mobile World Capital Barcelona.

He is also a Professor/ consultor of the UOC (Catalonia Open University) and IL3 (International Long-Learning -University of Barcelona).

Jorgen also spent time at Tactel where he led business development, and prior to that, spent 13 years at Ericsson as director of product management for its Bluetooth accessory team, launching the world’s first Bluetooth product in 1999.

Jorgen works closely with Jawbone’s San Francisco headquarters to extend product development initiatives to globally, nurture and maintain relationships with international partners, and to tailor product feature sets, compatibility and securities policies cross-culturally.

Dr Natale Brunetti, MD, graduated ‘cum laude’ in Bari and completed his studies with a post-graduate in Cardiology ‘cum laude’, a PhD in Cardiovascular Clinics at University of Foggia and fellowships in Germany and Sweden.

He’s now assistant-Professor at University of Foggia, where his research fields are inflammation in cardiovascular disease, stress cardiomyopathy, tele-cardiology and pre-hospital cardiovascular care.

Dr Brunetti is fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, member of the ESC Working Group on Pre-hospital Care, coordinator of the Working Group of the Italian Society of Cardiology on Tele-Cardiology and Informatics, peer-reviewer for several journals and editorial board member for the European Research in Telemedicine journal.

He has published more than 300 papers in international journals and congress proceedings.

Peter Chau, Chief Executive

Peter Chau is the Chief Executive of the China Connected Health Alliance, which recently signed a collaboration agreement with the ECHAlliance and is actively engaged in establishing the CCHAlliance in China. Peter was born and raised in Hong Kong. Chau has extensive entrepreneurial experience in developing and marketing companies in China, USA, and UK.

From 1996 – 2005, Chau served as the Chairman of advertising group Publicis China.  He was instrumental in building Publicis China towards becoming the largest advertising group with branches throughout China.

Since Publicis, Chau has founded LED Corporation, a publicly listed company on AIM board of London Stock Exchange.  LED Corporation is a China-based company focused on researching and developing LED technology.  Peter Chau is the Co-Founder of Pegasus Holding Group , a British Virgin Island based investment holding group interested in real estate development, education and green technology focused in China.

Chau is currently based in Shanghai, UK and New York.

Previously, Rick was the founder and CEO of ProfitLine, building the company from a one-man consulting firm into a 200 person, multi-million dollar enterprise.   He uses his business building know-how to help students and fellow entrepreneurs launch meaningful and enduring technology companies as a mentor at the Founder Institute, a member of the Executive Committee of the San Diego MIT Enterprise Forum and a member of the Board of Advisors at the University of San Diego School of Business. Rick is also a board member of Pedal the Cause, a cancer research fundraising organization.

Rossana Alessandrello holds a MSc in electronic engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, she is specialized in Bioengineering and certified in BA from the Manchester Business School. She has accumulated wide experience in international eHealth companies as Picis Inc. (now OptumInsight), Telemedicine Clinic S.L. and Barcelona Digital Centre Tecnològic. Now she works for the Innovation Area of AQuAS, the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia, where she is boosting the adoption of new procurement instruments as the pre-commercial procurement and the public procurement of innovation. She is coordinator and partner of various EC co-funded PCP/PPI projects, like DECIPHER, the first PCP in mHealth, PRO4VIP and INSPIRE. She is a guest lecturer at several educational centres, workshops and symposia.

Sílvia is currently working in Barcelona as Assistant Manager of Primary Health Care in the Catalan Institute of Health (Institut Català de la Salut) which is the main public provider of health services in Catalonia. The Primary Care Units consist of Primary Care teams, Urgency services, Permanent Assistance Centers, Sexual and Reproduction health, Image diagnostic Services, etc.

She deals boosting innovative projects related to home based telehealth and telecare, virtual wards and new models of relationship between professionals and health care users, in order to revitalize and redesign the delivery of primary care.

Her previous positions were in the Catalan Health Department and coordinating capitation payment projects.

Yuri Quintana, Ph.D. is focused on developing innovative technologies that empower communities of professionals and consumers to collaborate on a worldwide basis. He is currently Director for Global Health Informatics in the Division of Clinical Informatics, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Harvard Medical School. He is developing mhealth applications and global online collaboration networks for health. Previously he was at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,  where he developed of international education and informatics programs in pediatric oncology. He led the development of Cure4Kids, a pediatric cancer education and collaboration Website used by over thousands of health professionals worldwide; POND4Kids for international collaborative clinical trials; and Cure4Kids for Kids, an outreach education program to educate children and communities about cancer and healthy living.

Quintana was a principal investigator in the Canadian HealNet Research Network, focusing on consumer health informatics and a faculty member at the University of Western Ontario. Quintana also served as director of the New Media Research Lab developing innovations in interactive media and online education. He has held high-tech positions at IBM Canada Limited and Watcom. He has been the chair of five international conferences on medical informatics. Quintana obtained his engineering degrees from the University of Waterloo.
